Terms of use

Seasons is a library of hobby ideas that fit the season you are in. These terms cover the Seasons app, this website and our emails. By using any of them, you agree to these terms, so please read them alongside our privacy policy.

Who we are

Seasons is run by Arthur Duarte, a sole proprietor in Ontario, Canada, operating as Arthurian Lab ("we" and "us" in these terms). You can reach us at [email protected].

Who can use Seasons

You must be at least 16 to use Seasons. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use it, and to buy a subscription.

Using the app

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Seasons for your own, non-commercial use, as long as you follow these terms. The ideas, writing, illustrations, stamps and design in Seasons belong to us, and you may not copy, resell or republish them.

You can use the app as a guest or sign in with Apple or Google. A guest's saved ideas and stamps live only on that guest account, so if you delete the app or lose your phone before signing in, they may be lost. Keep your Apple or Google account secure: anything done through it in Seasons is treated as done by you.

We keep adding and changing ideas and features, and from time to time we may retire some. We will try to give notice before removing anything you rely on.

Subscriptions and free trials

Seasons needs a subscription. The plans, prices and any free trial are shown on the subscription screen before you buy, and the purchase is made through the App Store or Google Play, so their terms apply to it as well.

  • Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel.
  • Free trials: if your plan comes with a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it does.
  • Cancelling: cancel at least 24 hours before renewal in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Seasons account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds: payments go through Apple or Google, so refunds are handled by them under their policies. We cannot issue them ourselves.
  • Price changes: if we change a price, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
  • Promo codes: any code or offer we give you, such as a waitlist gift, applies only on the terms stated with it and has no cash value.

Your notes and photos

The notes and photos you add when you complete an idea are yours. You give us permission to store, process and show them back to you, only so we can run Seasons. They are private to your account, and we do not post or share them.

Only add photos you have the right to use, and nothing illegal, hateful or sexual, or anything that shows someone who has not agreed to it.

Fair use

Please don't:

  • use Seasons to break the law or to harm, harass or threaten anyone;
  • copy, scrape or resell the catalogue of ideas or its art;
  • try to reach accounts, data or systems that aren't yours, or reverse-engineer the app;
  • overload, disrupt or interfere with the app, the website or our servers;
  • sign up to the waitlist or our emails with someone else's address.

Trying the ideas safely

The ideas in Seasons are suggestions for things to try, not professional, medical or safety advice. Some involve the outdoors, the kitchen, tools, water, heat or travel. Use your own judgement, check the weather and conditions, follow local rules and any safety guidance for the activity, and skip anything that doesn't feel right for you. You are responsible for how and whether you do an activity.

Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep Seasons running well, but we provide it "as is" and cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or right for you.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for injury, loss or damage that comes from doing an activity you found in Seasons. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid for Seasons in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50 if that is more.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived or limited by an agreement.

Apple and Google

These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we, not they, are responsible for Seasons and its support. If you downloaded Seasons from the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where these terms don't cover something.

Ending your use of Seasons

You can stop using Seasons whenever you like, and delete your account and its data from the app's settings. The deletion page explains how and what is deleted. Remember to cancel your subscription separately.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or safety requires otherwise, we will tell you why first.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will also tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Seasons after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, you can stop using Seasons and cancel your subscription.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If a problem comes up, please email us first. Most things can be sorted out that way. Otherwise, disputes go to the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your home courts.
